Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name
You Give Love A Bad Name by Bon Jovi was a hit single and they went on tour straight after writing the album which this song accompanies therefore they may have made this video to show off to their fans that this is what they will be like live, and if the fans like it then they will want to go and see them perform.
The band are performing in an arena style venue, this tells us that the band are big and that they can fill out whole stadiums with their fans. Each band member has long, crazy hair, this is stereotypical with rock bands, they are all wearing tight glamorise costumes which were fashionable in the 80's. Everyone in the band has an instrument of some sort as they are playing in front of an audience, they do not always play at the audience, Sometimes the band are looking at, and perform actions in front of the camera which enables the viewer of the video to place themselves in the crowd and feel more immersed as you feel more close to the band.
The video starts off in slow motion until the verse kicks in, then only in very brief slots does the video slow down again until we reach the end when it slows down once more, this may be to show the atmosphere and background they are performing to and to signal the end of the song. There is also cheering which has been added at the beginning and the end of the video, this is to shows us that the band are playing in front of a real audience, however no chanting or cheering can be heard whilst the song is being played.
Quite a few camera angles are used in the video. Alot of wide shots have been used so that we can see exactly what the band are doing and how they are interacting with each other. A low angle close ups have been used with the band members looking straight into the camera, this lets us see that they are having alot of fun on stage. Some zoom in shots on John Bon Jovi have been used to show the scale of the place they are performing.
