The music genre of the band ‘The Libertines’ is quite clearly Indie rock which is shown from this their self titled 2nd album as they are looking pretty rough and the lettering used for the band’s name is uneven. On this cover, only two of the bands members are shown, this is most likely to show off their image and to show the connection between the two band members as they are very close to each other and are touching. This album is self titled ‘The Libertines’ this is most likely because the band does not need to sell its image as this is their 2nd album but rather their two main figure roles in the band being these two’s close relation to each other. The cover seems set in a nightclub kind of atmosphere in a fairly low lit area which suggests the two may have had a lot to drink, we can tell that drugs might be involved as Pete, the man wearing a red shirt, is smoking a cigarette, the two are looking very pale and Pete is also holding his arm out as if he is ready to inject something into it. The camera shot is angled up so that Carl, the man wearing a white tank-top, has to look up and this makes the audience respond as this makes it seem like we are looking down on them making us feel in control and able to judge them for the mess they are in. the band are targeting a young audience only with this album as many older people will not like the drug theme used in this album cover, of any background however mainly low- middle class, and of any gender.
