Laura Marlings 2nd album 'I speak because I can' is a folk album. this is not very obvious their is not alot that we can link with that genre which is featured on this cover, We can link the fact that she has been painted which could suggest this album's genre is folk. The title 'I speak because I can' tells us that perhaps this artist is trying to be more independent and grown up, this could also be reflected in what she is wearing, the grey background, and perhaps the colours inbetween the gaps in the letterings of the album title might be to represent how she has changed as it is quite a childish thing to do. Laura's body language of hands on hips and eyes shut looking down slightly, suggests that she upset which tells us that this album could answer what the reason behind it is. This album is most likely targetted at a more middle aged age group rather than a younger one, this comes across as she seems to be growing up theirfore this should appeal to an older generation. The album may appeal more to a female audience rather than a male as it is a solo female artist and males may not be able to relate, with either a middle or upper class background as the cover looks quite elegant.
